Unfortunately there is no record of whether there were many mice in Neuhäuser’s native Katzhütte. But, apparently fascinated by the agility of the little rodents, during his one and a half years spent working as a model maker for Manufaktur Nymphenburg, Wilhelm Neuhäuser made four different mouse figurines alone. The best-known one to this very day is this eight-centimetre-tall sitting mouse. Painted, glazed, or as seen here in biscuit porcelain, it has long ranked among the best sellers.
